Olbermann Deletes Direct Threat To Jennings: "You're Next Motherf**ker"

In the tense aftermath of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination earlier this month,  prominent left-leaning figures have not relented in their efforts to incite violence against their political enemies.

On Monday evening, former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann fired off a pair of now-deleted X posts that appeared to directly threaten CNN political commentator Scott Jennings, a vocal defender of conservative values.

The messages, captured in screenshots before they vanished, read: “You’re Next, Motherf*cker” followed by “But keep mugging to the camera.”

Olbermann’s outburst, which he has yet to address despite being tagged in numerous calls for accountability, has ignited widespread outrage and calls for an FBI investigation.

This incident isn’t isolated—it’s a stark reminder of how quickly the left’s post-assassination playbook reverts to threats and deflection. Just days after Kirk was gunned down on stage at Utah Valley University, Olbermann’s words evoke the very violence that claimed the life of the 31-year-old Turning Point USA founder.

Olbermann’s threat came in direct response to Jennings’ online commentary amid the swirling controversy over late-night host Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension for his own inflammatory remarks about the assassination.

While the exact trigger post from Jennings remains somewhat ambiguous, speculation points to his September 22 tweet mocking Democrats’ complaints about Kimmel’s temporary removal from airwaves. Jennings wrote: “So basically his employer suspended him for being an insensitive prick, and we don’t live in an authoritarian regime? Got it.”

This jab at perceived liberal hypocrisy over free speech—especially in the wake of Kimmel’s attempt to portray Kirk’s killer as a conservative—appears to have pushed Olbermann’s buttons.

Online sleuths and commentators, including Townhall’s Dustin Grage who first shared the screenshots, have tied it to Jennings’ broader defenses of Kirk and criticisms of left-wing media spin.

In one thread, Jennings had earlier obliterated what he called “liberal spin” on Tyler Robinson’s motives, declaring on CNN that “the evidence here is overwhelming” for a leftist ideological driver behind the killing. Olbermann, riddled with TDS, seemed to interpret this as a personal affront, escalating to what many are calling a veiled call for violence.

This is a pattern of purposeful incitement from the left, designed to stoke division and normalize threats against conservatives in the wake of Kirk’s death.

Olbermann’s deleted posts arrived just days after the FBI, under Director Kash Patel, revealed disturbing details from Robinson’s communications, including advance warnings of his intent that raised questions about whether a larger network ignored red flags.

Yet instead of introspection, figures like Olbermann double down, using platforms to target individuals like Jennings—who has been a consistent voice calling out the left’s role in fostering an “assassination culture.”

Jennings himself has since tagged FBI leadership, demanding an probe into the threats.

Tying this directly to the Kirk tragedy underscores a broader strategy: the left’s media mouthpieces aren’t just reacting—they’re actively covering tracks and rallying their base. Enter Jimmy Kimmel, whose suspension from ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” earlier this month exemplifies this tactic.

Just days after the shooting, Kimmel used his monologue to mock conservatives’ grief and explicitly paint Robinson as one of the “MAGA gang.”

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel sneered, while ridiculing President Trump’s measured response to the loss of a friend and ally.

This wasn’t a slip-up; it was deliberate misdirection. Despite early reports from Utah prosecutors and the FBI highlighting Robinson’s leftist leanings—including his pro-LGBTQ+ shift and explicit hatred for Kirk’s conservative stances—Kimmel inverted the narrative to shield the violent impulses on his own side.

Kimmel knew exactly what he was doing. By framing the assassin as a right-winger, he preemptively absolved the left of any rhetorical culpability, sending a clear message to his audience and fellow travelers: We’ve got your back, even when you cross the line into murder.

The backlash was swift—FCC Chairman Brendan Carr accused Kimmel of a “concerted effort to try to lie to the American people,” leading ABC to pull the show. Yet now, after a slap on the wrist, Kimmel is back. Affiliates Sinclair has refused to get back on board with the reinstatement, for now.

Kimmel’s comments weren’t just insensitive; they were a shield for the violent left, feeding into a culture where threats like Olbermann’s are extensions of mainstream discourse.

The left’s playbook post-Kirk mirrors past incidents of political violence, from the 2024 attempts on Trump to the rising tide of attacks documented by researchers (over 150 politically motivated incidents in early 2025 alone). Olbermann’s threat, deleted in a panic after screenshots spread, isn’t an outlier; it’s the logical endpoint of rhetoric that dehumanizes conservatives as “fascists” worthy of removal.

In a nation still reeling from Kirk’s loss—a man who, in a chilling June 2025 speech, warned that his enemies “are gonna do everything they can to murder” him—we can’t afford to slip back into complacency.

Olbermann’s threat demands more than deletion; it requires accountability from platforms, networks like iHeartMedia (which employs him), and law enforcement. Suspensions like Kimmel’s must evolve into a reckoning because the message is clear: “You’re Next” has become the rallying cry. The left isn’t just inciting violence—they’re betting on it.
