Five to seven Iranian missiles landed in the Tel Aviv area late Friday as Iran began its retaliatory attack against Israel, sending dozens of ballistic missiles. According to the IDF, a second missile volley from Iran was launched and was heading toward the country.

Magen David Adom Director Eli Bin reported shortly after the attack that at least seven people were injured in minor to moderate condition due to shrapnel.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit late Friday warned for a second time Israel was coming under and Iranian attack. "The IDF identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel. Defense systems are operating to intercept the threat. The public is instructed to enter a protected space and remain there until further notice."

The IDF said on Friday evening that the Air Force completed strikes on Iran's nuclear facility in the area of Isfahan. "The site conducts a 'reconversion' process of enriched uranium. This is the next stage after uranium enrichment in the nuclear weapons production process.

"The strike destroyed a facility for metallic uranium production, infrastructure for enriched uranium conversion, laboratories and additional infrastructure," Spokesperson Brig. Gen Ephraim Dafrin said.

The IDF warned Friday evening that Israel is set to come under what could be a massive Iranian missile and drone attack after Israel conducts strikes against Iran's nuclear and military facilities and personnel.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit on Friday issued a warning ahead of an expected missile attack. The military identified one launch from Yemen targeting the Jerusalem area and the West Bank. Sirens sounded across the area minutes following the military's announcement.

The military later reported the missile fell in the city of Hebron located in the West Bank after no interceptors were launched against the threat. "A missile launched from Yemen fell in the area of Hebron, no interceptors were launched. The details of the incident are under review."

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit reported Friday that the Israeli Air Force continues to strike missile launchers and drone infrastructure across Iran. The operation has been ongoing for 16 hours. Both The New York Times and Iran's Fars News Agency reported that strikes also targeted Fordow, a fortified nuclear facility built into a mountainside near Qom.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir held a situation assessment on the operation, saying, "We are continuing with the two main efforts we set for ourselves – the defensive effort and the offensive effort. I remind everyone that we are facing a dangerous and complex enemy and we must maintain a very high level of readiness

"There will be difficult moments; we need to be prepared for the range of scenarios we have planned for, very high readiness and discipline are required on the home front."

Saudi Arabia's Al Hadath channel reported on Friday that the United States informed the Iraqi government that it would respond directly if any American interests came under attack from Iraqi pro-Iran militias. Sources told the outlet that U.S. forces at the Ain al-Assad base in Western Iraq shot down three strike drones in the area. Iranian media later added that explosions were heard in Tehran's city center.

Iranian officials told the New York Times Friday evening that Esmail Qaani, commander of Iran's Quds Force, has been killed as part of the Israeli strikes launched overnight. Qaani succeeded Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated in Baghdad in 2020 in a joint U.S.-Israeli operation.

The Quds Force serves as the IRGC’s overseas operations unit and answers directly to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who authorizes its activities and provides it with funding. The force is effectively responsible for exporting the Iranian revolution, building and supporting Iran’s proxy network across the Middle East and beyond.

It has long backed Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen and Iranian-aligned militias in Syria and Iraq against Israel. The Quds Force has also carried out terrorist attacks abroad, including operations targeting Israeli civilians.

Earlier, explosions were again reported near Tehran and in Iran's Qom province, according to Sabrin News, a media outlet affiliated with pro-Iranian militias in Iraq. The strikes reportedly targeted areas west of the Iranian capital that had already been hit earlier. The Hezbollah-aligned Al-Mayadeen network also reported blasts both to the west and east of Tehran.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit released the first official statement on the renewed strikes, quoting Israeli Air Force commander Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar from the air force's underground command bunker: “Our presence right now in western Iran is critical, and every launcher we dismantle at this point is saving lives in the State of Israel. Work professionally, objectively, with humility and in cooperation and we will achieve our objectives. I trust you. Keep it up.”

The IDF announced Friday afternoon that it has begun drafting reservists from various units to different combat zones across the country amid the ongoing strikes in Iran, which have been ongoing for 14 hours since the operation began. According to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, the move is part of broader preparations for both defensive and offensive operations following the operation’s developments.

U.S. President Donald Trump said it was unclear if Iran still has a nuclear program following the Israeli strikes on its military and nuclear facilities. Trump told Reuters in a phone call that the U.S. still has nuclear talks planned with Iran on Sunday but that he was not sure if they would still take place. He said it was not too late for Iran to make a deal.

"I tried to save Iran from humiliation and death," Trump said, adding that he was not concerned about a regional war breaking out as a result of Israel's strikes.

Iran reported heavy civilian casualties in Tehran neighborhoods, where Israeli airstrikes allegedly killed 78 people and injured 329, local media reported on Friday. A security source cited by Iran’s Fars news agency warned that “Iranian retaliation will begin soon.”

A military source said Israel expects incoming Iranian missiles, warning that "prices will be paid" and promising continued waves of strikes until all objectives are met. “We attack and will not relent,” the official added. “If Iran strikes, we have more targets.”

Senior Israeli officials described the overnight offensive as a historic campaign against one of the region’s most powerful militaries. They said it began with pinpoint assassinations and ruined Iran’s air defenses, catching Iranian leadership off guard. Washington reportedly supported the operation, while uncertainty remains over U.S. involvement going forward. Israeli officials estimate the fighting could stretch for two to three weeks, with more strikes on tap.

Netanyahu has called a security briefing for 6:30 p.m. local time to evaluate the strike campaign in Iran, dubbed Operation Rising Lion. He will be joined by Defense Minister Israel Katz, Mossad Director David Barnea, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and other senior security officials.

Katz, who was briefed on the operation, will speak with U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth later Friday, his office said.

U.S. officials reportedly invited Iran to resume nuclear talks Sunday, but Tehran has refused and may withdraw from the nuclear Non‑Proliferation Treaty.

Iranian authorities have imposed temporary internet restrictions, citing "special circumstances." President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that a "strong and legitimate" Iranian response will force “the enemy to regret its foolish action” and asked citizens to resist “psychological warfare.”

State‑run Mehr news agency reported five dead and 12 injured in strikes on the city of Tabriz, which reportedly severely damaged the city's international airport and Shahid Fakouri military base. Separately, Israeli air defenses intercepted an Iranian drone over Syria near the Israeli border; other inbound drones, all arriving from Iran, were intercepted before entering Israeli territory, defense officials said.

Mehr also claimed that Tehran has not yet launched any drone strikes in retaliation, saying that “true vengeance will occur in the near future and will be announced only through official sources.”

Earlier, IDF spokesperson Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin reported that the military had successfully intercepted all drones launched toward Israel by Iran as part of its retaliatory strike. The Home Front Command lifted its shelter-in-place directive shortly after. According to officials, over 100 Iranian drones were launched from multiple locations, including Iraq.

Reuters cited two Israeli sources saying the strikes killed at least 20 senior Iranian commanders. Israel confirmed the death of IRGC Air Force Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh and others. The IDF said Hajizadeh and several top drone and air-defense leaders were targeted as they met in an underground command bunker in Iran.

The IDF said its intelligence identified the gathering and launched the attack to preempt a planned Iranian strike. In a statement, the IDF said the raid inflicted significant damage on Iran’s air defenses and its nuclear site at Natanz, emphasizing that prolonged operations are anticipated and urging Israelis to adhere to Home Front Command instructions.

Iranian state TV reported another strike at Natanz. Satellite images show heavy damage at the site. Akbar Salihi, deputy defense minister for law enforcement in Isfahan province, said there were no casualties or radiation leaks at the Natanz facility.

A senior Hezbollah official told Reuters the terrorist group "will not initiate its own attack on Israel," although its statement condemned Israel’s “cruel aggression” supported by the U.S., claiming Israel has violated international norms and is pushing the region closer to further escalation.

Another Hezbollah-linked source told Saudi Al‑Hadath TV that “what is happening between Israel and Iran is an international matter; we will not intervene.”
