Lawmakers pressure Bondi to release Epstein ‘client list’

Attorney General Pam Bondi is facing mounting pressure from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to release the alleged “client list” of deceased billionaire and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein — a move President Donald Trump entertained on the campaign trail.

Bondi, who was sworn in to lead the Department of Justice earlier this month, told Fox News on Friday that she’s in possession of files relating to the investigation into Epstein — which could potentially include his “client list,” a document suspected to include high-profile names associated with the late financier’s sex crimes. Last year, Trump said he would consider releasing the rumored records on a podcast hosted by media personality Lex Fridman.

“It’s sitting on my desk right now to review,” Bondi said to Fox News’ John Roberts when asked if the Department of Justice would release the list of clients. “That’s been a directive by President Trump.”

Lawmakers across the political spectrum have taken to X to urge Bondi to make good on her promise — an early, rare point of pressure Republican members of Congress have tried to exert over the administration.

Leading the pack is Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), who chairs a task force on the “declassification of federal secrets.” The release of records related to the investigation into Epstein’s crimes is one of the task force’s major priorities.

The outspoken Florida Republican started posting about the release of the Epstein documents on X on Monday, directing her grievances at Bondi.

“Reaching out on X because we can’t seem to get a response from the AG,” Luna said in a Tuesday post to X. “@AGPamBondi what is the status of the documents? These documents were ordered to be declassified.”

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.) and Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) have also pressured Bondi on social media to take action.

“Today would be a great day for @AGPamBondi to release the Epstein Files,” Boebert said in an X posting on Tuesday. “The truth will set us free!”

On Monday, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) sent a letter to newly sworn-in FBI Director Kash Patel and Bondi, requesting the release of information relevant to Epstein’s case, including flight logs from Epstein’s private jet and helicopter and Epstein’s former accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell’s “little black book,” which also includes the names of people allegedly involved in the couple’s crimes. Blackburn previously pressed Patel during his confirmation hearing on his commitment to releasing the records.

Democrats have also joined the effort, suggesting Bondi may be protecting people on the list from retribution.

“The AG still not releasing the EPSTEIN FILES is weird and raises the question of who she might be protecting,” Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) said on X on Tuesday.

Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats also posted to X on Tuesday questioning Bondi about why she hasn’t released the documents. The committee’s post includes pictures of Trump with Epstein and Elon Musk, leader of the Department of Government Efficiency, with Maxwell.

Maxwell was convicted of multiple offenses, including sex trafficking, in connection with Epstein’s abuse and is serving a 20 year prison sentence. Epstein died in a New York federal jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

“Pam Bondi is sitting on the Epstein files right now. What’re you waiting for?” the post wrote.

A federal court unsealed a trove of records relating to Epstein last year. The documents listed roughly 200 names, referencing prominent figures, such as Trump and former President Bill Clinton. However, the documents exposed few details about the nature of their relationships with Epstein, and neither the former nor current president have been accused of wrongdoing in the investigation.
