Mega-billionaire, or even trillionaire depending on the swing of the markets, Elon Musk agreed to an interview with Zanny Minton Bedoes, a chief at the Economist.
She tried to paint him as “far right” over his perspectives on government, immigration and more.
He responded that he wants secure borders, safe cities and sensible spending, a report at RedState.com explains.
Then she lashed out at his comments on developments in the United Kingdom, charging, “You don’t even live there.”
Which brought up her end goal: to spit in his face with, “People loathe you.”
“Do you see why this makes people think this man, who has all this power, he’s the richest man, he thinks he has a right to influence our politics. It makes people … loathe you. And some people do loathe you,” she charged.
He agreed, explaining, “I don’t care.”
She continued, “Do you think what you’re doing is helpful for Western democracy?”
He was allowed, then, to explain. “Maybe some people do loathe me. … I don’t care. The fact that, as you pointed out, a quarter billion people follow me is that a lot more people actually like me than don’t.”
Then he delivered a shocker: “I think a lot more people hate you and the media than you realize.”
The RedState commentary said, “Now that’s a mic drop right there, for sure. I’m willing to bet that Beddoes has not faced such a blunt (but true) assessment of the media to her face like that before. I doubt she was expecting that. She should reflect on why it’s true that so many people hate the media, but I wouldn’t bet that she would.”

It continued, “Much of the alleged ‘news media’ has long since given up what was supposed to be their job of reporting the facts to the people, in favor of pushing agenda ‘journalism.’ The media has earned all the loathing they get, and we’re all in with Elon on despising the liberal media.”
In fact, recent polling has confirmed that trust in the U.S. mass media is at record lows. Gallup’s report said only 28% of Americans have high confidence in newspapers, TV, and radio to report news “fully, accurately and fairly,” the lowest level since such tracking began some 50 years ago.
For Republicans, that figure was at a stunningly low 8%.
RedState pointed out, “Meanwhile, Musk is probably one of the most accomplished men in the world who has brought so much to it, with his work on SpaceX, Tesla, Neuralink, and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). He put everything on the line for freer speech by buying X, then getting targeted by the Left for doing so. That’s one of the reasons many have great admiration for him. Elon has brought incredible things to the world. The liberal media, not so much.”
