The cast of ABC’s ‘The View’
ABC launched a campaign Monday to urge viewers to complain about the Federal Communications Commission’s investigation into daytime talk show “The View.”
The network’s ad urges viewers to scan a QR code that directs them to the FCC’s website where they can leave public comments, according to the New York Times.
Public comment on the FCC’s proceedings looking at The View’s “bona fide news” status closes today, but ABC is has only this morning gotten around to mustering a defense.

“‘The View’ has welcomed your favorite guests for nearly 30 years. Now the FCC wants to control who is allowed the appear on the show. Tell the FCC to let the viewers decide,” ABC’s campaign states, according to the outlet.
The FCC did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comments.
The ad is running all day Monday in cities around the United States such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, and Fresno, according to the New York Times.
In February, the FCC launched an investigation into “The View” regarding whether the show violated equal-time rules for politicians after it aired an interview with Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico. The agency is also probing ABC over the diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives of its parent company Disney, according to the Wall Street Journal.
“I would assume you could make the argument that ‘The View’ is a bona fide news show, but I’m not so sure about that,” FCC Chairman Brendan Carr said in a September podcast interview.
“And I think it’s worthwhile to have the FCC look into whether ‘The View’ and some of the programs that you have still qualify as bona fide news programs and therefore exempt from the equal opportunity regime that Congress has put in place,” he added.
