A commentary at Revolver is skewering Rep. Jimmy Gomez, D-Calif., for his history of trying to link President Donald Trump to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as Gomez himself now is under investigation for sexual misconduct.

The Revolver authors point out:

“A new report out that claims one of Trump’s biggest critics, a guy who routinely claims the president has committed sexual assault against minors, is now under investigation for very serious sexual assault claims. Interesting. But we all know by now that this is a very clear pattern in left-wing politics. The loudest Trump-haters and accusers always end up facing some very uncomfortable questions of their own down the road.”

It continued, “As we said, Rep. Jimmy Gomez has spent years gleefully trying to tie President Trump to Jeffrey Epstein. He’s been pushing his fan fiction, floating his ugly allegations, and dived head-first into one of the left’s biggest go-to smear campaigns, all without producing one single shred of evidence that proves Trump was involved in Epstein’s crimes. Now Mr. Gomez is sitting on the other side of the table. Instead of making wild, unproven accusations, Jimmy is now answering questions about his own possible sexual assault.”

Gomez’s claims were that Trump “sexually abused minor girls, without evidence.”

It is a report at CNN that explains the House Ethics Committee is investigating Gomez over allegations of sexual misconduct.

The organization’s sources said the House was reaching out following a New York Post story that alleged Gomez “had been spotted kissing an aide, who worked for a different member of Congress, outside a backyard party in 2023.”

A spokesman for Gomez said that was not true.

CNN reported that in reaching out for information on that claim, the House panel learned of “other allegations of sexual misconduct” against Gomez.

Those now are being investigated.

To CNN, Gomez said he “made mistakes that caused his family pain but said they had not violated the law or any House ethics rules. He said he would ‘cooperate with any Ethics Committee inquiry and provide it with whatever information it might need.'”

He said he was working with his family, with counselors, and more, to try to repair his damage.

“I sincerely apologize to my wife, family, friends and the people that I have the privilege to serve. My wife and I will work through our family matters privately, but I am deeply sorry for the pain and embarrassment that I brought into our lives,” he said.

The CNN report noted two lawmakers, Reps. Eric Swalwell and Tony Gonzalez, recently resigned amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

The report said there was no comment from the House Ethics Committee.

Revolver said, “Gomez spent years helping fuel one of Dem’s favorite political games, attaching the worst possible accusations to President Trump and hoping something sticks… all the while, he was cheating and abusing women while his wife was home trying to raise their baby.”

The New York Post noted that Gomez is a founder of the Congressional Dads Caucus.

The publication noted “one Democratic source familiar with the matter” as stating, “This guy [Gomez] is a sleazebag. He should resign and use his free time to trade war stories with Swalwell.”
