Despite making a serious deal about loving “the trans children,” James Talarico, the Democrat nominee for U.S. Senate in Texas, is suddenly singing a very different tune.
Appearing on the “Unity Over Division” podcast Monday with Houston defense attorney Dan Cogdell, the Texas state representtive declared, “I oppose gender reassignment surgeries for minors.”

The Democrat who faces Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the November election had previously called such surgeries “life-saving health care.”
As WorldNetDaily reported in March, the Presbyterian seminarian voiced strong support for children who have undergone transgender surgery, calling them an “inspiration.”
“I love – I’m just going to say this because it’s on my mind – the trans children who showed up yesterday at the state Capitol to advocate for their humanity,” Talarico said.
“They shouldn’t have to, but it was an inspiration to watch.”

Talarico explained what he was referring to earlier in the “Superbloom Podcast” from May 2023.
“We were going to debate a bill that would deny trans children life-saving health care, and ultimately we didn’t get to the bill because Democrats called a point of order and were able to delay the bill a few days,” he said.
“But we had trans activists, trans children, trans parents of trans children in the gallery, and they also launched their own peaceful protest and were removed from the gallery. And in fact, there’s video of one of the law enforcement officers violently throwing down one of those trans activists outside the House chamber.”
Codgell actually represented Paxton during his 2023 impeachment trial, but is now endorsing Talarico, telling NOTUS his former client who has been strongly endorsed by President Donald Trump “has lost sight of his core mission, which is to represent the people of Texas.”
Meanwhile, as WorldNetDaily reported earlier Monday, Talarico is being barbecued online for apparently changing his strong anti-meat stance and wolfing down as much meat as he can during the campaign to show voters he is “Texas tough.”
