Coalition wants women protected from abortion-inducing chemicals in drinking water * WorldNetDaily * by Bob Unruh

Citing the health threats that exist because of chemicals in water supplies, including in groundwater resources, the attorney general for Indiana is calling on the Environmental Protection Agency to impose stricter controls over the abortion-inducing drug mifepristone.
According to a report from the office of AG Todd Rokia, “Drug-induced abortions occurring outside of the legal, direct and personal care of a properly licensed physician are causing pain and suffering to women. Obviously, this starts with the individuals persuaded by Planned Parenthood and Big Pharma to use mifepristone to abort their pregnancies, but increasingly it extends to other women who might ingest the drug from their local water supplies.”
Actually, Rokita is working with officials from 14 states who have gone to the EPA with their demands.
Actually, it’s well-known that drugs used by populations can find their way into groundwater supplies.
The drugs pass through people, then enter sewage systems, and eventually can be found in various water supply sources. Online reports confirm that in Los Angeles County, prescription drugs including Viagra have been found in drinking water systems.
A letter from the states requests that mifepristone be added to the dangerous drugs on the “Contaminant Candidate List,” which could lead to more restrictions allowed by the Safe Drinking Act.
A letter from the states explains, “Over the last decade, the FDA has eliminated many of the protections that minimized the health risks posed by mifepristone and its approved generics, including the in-person dispensing and check-up requirements that kept medical staff involved in the process. Not only were the FDA’s changes to the REMS unlawful and unsafe, but the loosened regulations have also increased the number of chemical abortions occurring in the home, resulting in tons of chemically tainted medical waste being flushed into American waterways.”
Rokita’s announcement said, “If mifepristone reaches sufficient concentration, pregnant women who unintentionally ingest the drug through the public water supply could be at greater risk of health complications than the general population. In addition, recent research suggests that mifepristone can affect reproductive organ development and fertility.”
A report at the Washington Stand explained the effort is being coordinated by Republican officials, and seeks to set up “stringent regulations” on mifepristone.
Another supporter of the plan, Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway, organized the agenda, and said, “Without a physician’s oversight, we don’t know what’s happening to the medical waste from the abortions, and, frankly, we don’t know what’s happening to the medications.”
She continued, “The worst thing, in my mind, that could possibly happen is that a woman who is trying to have a baby drinks water in her community that’s contaminated and loses her baby as a result of the medical waste that has gone into that system.”
Hanaway warned that the injury from mifepristone goes beyond abortions, and includes threats to fertility.
“The EPA has all kinds of standards for the quality of our drinking water. To me, taking out a chemical that is literally lethal to human life should be a no-brainer. All we’re asking them to do is take a hard look at this chemical, what the effects are, and to make sure that we aren’t causing abortions, that we aren’t having an impact that makes women less fertile.”
Already, Congress has been given a plan to require a patient to see a doctor in-person for the abortion drug to be prescribed.
The Stand reported, “A report from Students for Life of America (SFLA) found that at least 50 tons of abortion-related waste is dumped into American waterways annually due to the abortion drug. SFLA described that metric as a ‘conservative estimate’ and that the real number may be closer to 65 tons of abortion-related waste annually, including traces of mifepristone, water contaminated by mifepristone, and even aborted fetal tissue.”
