The head of a local pro-business organization in Raleigh, North Carolina, is catching flack for reportedly posting a comment about the so-called transgender ideology on Facebook – anonymously.

The remark, posted on the Facebook group Networking Women of the Triangle, was in response to a group member asking for advice about her daughter who had been identifying as a boy. It read: “There’s no such thing as a transgender son. Blessings to you, but the sooner you help your son realize this, the more successful he (maybe a she) will be.”

According to the local ABC television affiliate, the post was made by the executive director or Shop Local Raleigh, Jennifer Martin. While the comment was posted anonymously, the administrator of the Facebook group is able to identify the writer.

Now several businesses want Martin ousted for expressing her opinion. A petition reportedly has garnered over 1,00 signatures.

Shop Local Raleigh itself issued a statement, saying, “The comment made does not reflect those of the organization. Shop Local Raleigh is dedicated to a culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect.”

Erica Vogel, who owns a local boutique, said Monday that her business would no longer affiliate with the business organization.

“Shop Local Raleigh states that their mission is to support and uplift, and be sort of a home for our local small businesses, and I feel like what she did was not inclusive of our community, and it just really rubbed me the wrong way,” Vogel said.
