After journalist Nick Shirley confronted Minnesota daycare centers that receive government money but seemingly serve no children, another independent reporter is doing the same, this time in Ohio, which is host to the nation’s second-largest Somali community.

As the Gateway Pundit reports, Anthony and Josh Rubin of Muckraker.com visited the Great Minds Learning Academy at 2909 E 5th Avenue in Columbus, Ohio. The name is similar to one making headlines in Minnesota called the Quality “Learing” Center.

In a video posted on X, Rubin and his team knock on the facility’s door during business hours, but no one answers. The building appears deserted, with no signs of activity despite its listing as a licensed childcare center serving children from six weeks to 12 years old, with a capacity of 36 kids.

“Right now we are in front of The Great Minds Learning Academy. This is one of many daycare centers … here in Columbus, Ohio, that are associated with the Somali community,” Rubin says in the video.

Rubin then questioned neighbors in the area, including some across the street.

“I’ve never seen nobody come out the building or go in the building,” says one man. When pressed if he’d ever seen children or any activity, he reiterated, “No, not at all.”

Shirley went viral beginning Friday with a 42-minute video capturing his attempts to verify that several daycare centers in the Minnesota Somali community actually do what they say the do. As a result investigators with DHS have begun to look into the scandal, while Minnesota Democrats claim that nothing is amiss with taxpayer-subsidized childcare facilities. Meanwhile, Gov. Tim Walz is facing pressure from some to resign.
