A Democratic candidate vying to be Texas’s next senator who put his faith at the forefront of his campaign follows porn stars, adult entertainers, and OnlyFans models through his Instagram account, Axios reported Saturday.

James Talarico, a state House of Representatives member and Presbyterian seminarian, follows 10 Instagram accounts associated the adult entertainment industry or escort services, according to an Axios review of publicly available information. Talarico is set to challenge either Republican Texas Sen. John Cornyn or state Attorney General Ken Paxton in the 2026 general election.

“While James was unaware of how these women make money, he does not judge them for it and will not play into an effort to smear them for clickbait articles.” JT Ennis, Talarico’s spokesperson, told Axios. “That’s exactly what his Christian faith calls him to do.”

The candidate made himself stand out among Democrats for regularly invoking his Christianity as a key theme of his campaign, arguing how Republicans’ actions in government contradict a true devotion to Christ, according to Axios. He once reportedly invoked the biblical story of Jesus kicking out the money changers from the Temple in Jerusalem as analogous to politicians’ duty to take on the billionaire class.

“Those billionaires want to keep us from seeing all that we have in common. They want to keep us from realizing there’s far more that unites us than divides us,” his campaign website reads. “Because once we do, we’ll come together — across party, across race, across gender, across religion — to fix what’s broken in our country and take back power for ourselves and our communities.”

The accounts in question did not include explicitly nude photographs, as Instagram forbids them by policy, Axios reported.

The Talarico campaign did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
