COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Pamela Evette has released a statement following her loss in the runoff primary election for the GOP nomination for SC governor to Alan Wilson.

Evette released the following on X Tuesday night:

“To my family and all of our friends and supporters who’ve been on this journey with me over the past 18 months since launching this campaign, and the last 8 years serving as your Lt. Governor — your support, encouragement, and friendship has meant the world to me. Thank you for believing in me. I called Alan Wilson to congratulate him on his win and to tell him that he has my support as our party’s nominee. I ask you to join me in doing everything to ensure a win in November. As this primary election season comes to a close, please know that while I may not have the honor of being the next Governor of this great state, I will always be committed to helping create a brighter future for South Carolina and its people. God bless.”

Evette has been the Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina since 2019.
