MAGA voices confident that Trump is listening to them on Iran

Prominent personalities within the Make America Great Again movement expressed confidence in President Donald Trump’s willingness to listen to his supporters as he considers whether the United States should intervene in the Israel-Iran conflict.

During his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump opposed unnecessary foreign intervention and promised to help negotiate an end to international conflicts, namely the Israel-Hamas war and the Russia-Ukraine war. However, in recent days, Trump’s highly anticipated decision on whether to attack Iran is said to have split the MAGA world.

Top MAGA voices are not convinced of the reported “civil war” between Trump and his supporters.

In an interview with Politico‘s Playbook published Friday morning, War Room host Steve Bannon said, “The MAGA movement tonight is in a great place” over the situation with Iran, following a meeting he had with Trump. Bannon, a former aide during the president’s first term, is confident that Trump wants to avoid a conflict with Iran.

Trump “clearly stated” that he wants “to look at other alternatives,” Bannon told Playbook. “This is a guy, before he turns to violence in terms of military kinetic action, he looks at every other alternative you can do. I think it just once again reinforces the reason that the MAGA movement loves him.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “needs to finish what [Israel] started,” rather than rely on U.S. military intervention against Iran, Bannon said.

Similarly, Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk believes the “civil war” talk is overblown.

“It’s not a civil war,” Kirk told Playbook. “I think that there is robust and healthy disagreement and discussion.”

Days earlier, the right-wing personality said on social media that the foreign policy issue on Iran “will cause a massive schism in MAGA and potentially disrupt our momentum and our insanely successful Presidency.”

No issue currently divides the right as much as foreign policy. I’m very concerned based on every I’ve seen in the grassroots the last few months that this will cause a massive schism in MAGA and potentially disrupt our momentum and our insanely successful Presidency. https://t.co/asUBrQAXVC

Likewise, conservative commentator Tucker Carlson warned earlier this week that a full-scale war on Iran could end Trump’s presidency and America’s reputation.

“I actually really love Trump. I think he’s a deeply humane, kind person,” Carlson said on Bannon’s War Room podcast. “But I’m really afraid that my country’s gonna be further weakened by this. I think we’re gonna see the end of the American empire.”

“But it’s also going to end, I believe, Trump’s presidency and effectively end it,” he continued.

Israel launched airstrikes against Iran last week, targeting the Islamic Republic’s nuclear weapon sites and top generals. Iran retaliated by launching several barrages of long-range missiles toward Tel Aviv and other parts of Israel.

Trump is weighing whether the U.S. should assist Israel in its attacks on Iran, which he believes to be a possible nuclear threat. Although it does not possess nuclear weapons at the moment, Iran does have stockpiles of uranium enriched to 60%. If further enriched, the uranium could produce nuclear bombs.

On Friday, U.S. and European officials called for an end to Iran’s uranium enrichment program. According to a senior Iranian official, Tehran is ready to discuss limitations to its enrichment program but refuses to abandon it altogether.

The day before, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that Iran could produce a nuclear weapon in “a couple of weeks” if approved by Iran’s supreme leader. This “would, of course, pose an existential threat not just to Israel but to the United States and to the entire world,” she said.

Trump is expected to decide on the final order to assist Israel with attacking Iran in the coming two weeks, Leavitt said.

After the White House gave the two-week deadline to allow room for negotiations, Iran said it would refuse to hold talks with the U.S. as it continues trading fire with Israel.

BANNON: MAGA WILL GET ON BOARD IF TRUMP STRIKES IRAN, BUT ISRAEL SHOULD FINISH THE JOB

“Americans want to negotiate and have sent messages several times,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Friday, “but we clearly said that as long as this aggression doesn’t stop, there’s no place for talk of dialogue.”

Meanwhile, Araghchi is meeting with his counterparts from the United Kingdom, France, and Germany in Geneva, Switzerland, on Friday to discuss Iran’s nuclear program and its escalation against Israel.
