11 States Refuse to Participate in Great American State Fair - Todd Starnes

By all accounts the Great American State Fair has been a huge success. Crowds were shoulder to shoulder as Americans gathered to watch the USA’s World Cup Soccer team on giant monitors.

The fair is supposed to showcase the history, tourism and traditions of all 50 states in the union – along with our territories. An event commissioned by the Trump administration called Freedom 250 – not to be confused with the America 250 celebration established by Congress.

But not all 50 states are represented. Be sure to click here to get my breaking news alerts delivered to your inbox.

Hawaii, Oregon, Washington State, Illinois, North Carolina, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts Connecticut Rhode Island and Pennsylvania – chose not to participate.

Governor Josh Shapiro told The New Republic that it cost too much money to put together an exhibit. Then, he said there was not much interest among businesses.

That prompted Senators Dave McCormick and John Fetterman to set aside political differences and rally the troops. Within days they had a number of businesses and volunteers who turned the barren Pennsylvania display into a Keystone State wonderland.

Utz – the snack food company – stocked the tent with salty treats and for something sweet – there were plenty of Asher’s Chocolates – a family-owned company that’s been dipping stuff in chocolate since 1892.

And by all accounts – everyone at the state fair is having a grand old time.

Of course – the media not big fans of American exceptionalism. The headline from USA Today: “Trump’s Great American State Fair is a Fabulous Flop.”

And here’s how the Washingtonian described the fair: “I went to Trump’s Great American State Fair. It was Bleaker Than I Expected.”

And The Atlantic: “The Great American State Fair Isn’t Very Great.”

It’s unfortunate that Democrat-led states chose to boycott to the Great American State Fair. Mighty unpatriotic and downright impolite.

And if there really is a money problem in Pennsylvania or any other state maybe they should consider reallocating some of the taxpayer money they are giving to illegals.

It’s our 250th birthday – we should all be celebrating with fireworks and parades – marching bands and burgers grilled on an open flame. Instead, Democrats are pitching a hissy fit triggered by their Trump Derangement Syndrome.

And that’s a shame – because nothing says American patriotism than a giant turkey leg grilled over mesquite charcoal or two quarter pound all-beef burgers smothered in American cheese. Just don’t tell RFK Junior.
