Alleged killer Luigi Manigone is said to be begging his fans to stop bombarding him with photos while he awaits his trial in a Brooklyn federal prison.

According to a statement on the Maryland native's legal defense fund, the alleged killer cannot keep up with the amount of photos being sent to him.

“Luigi is allowed to receive photos via Shutterfly and FreePrints in accordance with mail procedures while in custody,” a message in the FAQ section reads.“ Due to the volume of photos, they could take longer than usual to be screened and shared.

"Luigi appreciates the photos that are sent and kindly asks that people send no more than five photos at a time," the update continued. “Please note that every photo that is received is screened and reviewed by law enforcement.”

The 26-year-old is currently being held on charges in relation to the murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, who was killed on December 4th in New York City while making his way to a shareholder meeting. The website, which is dedicated to updates in Mangione's case, also points fans to a donation site to help raise money for his defense fund.

As of Tuesday, the fund has raised $616,309. "I am overwhelmed by - and grateful for - everyone who has written me to share their stories and express their support," a statement by Mangione on the site reads.

"Powerfully, this support has transcended political, racial, and even class divisions, as mail has flooded MDC from across the country, and around the globe," he adds. "While it is impossible for me to reply to most letters, please know that I read every one that I receive. Thank you again to everyone who took the time to write. I look forward to hearing more in the future."

The man's plea for a limit in letters comes after an appearance in court last week where Mangione was spotted wearing a bulletproof vest and a green cardigan over a button-down shirt. He didn't give a statement. It was reported that as he appeared, several protesters calling for his freedom chanted out, "Free Luigi." He faces murder and terror charges in his New York state case. He appeared clean-shaven, though his hair was slightly longer, and he appeared to be about the same weight as he had been the last time he was seen in public.

When the man's lawyer, Karen Agnifilo, arrived, the crowd of protesters that had gathered outside began cheering and applauding for her. In a video, posted to the social media site X,  a crowd could be seen cheering for her as she entered the building as they stood behind barricades, and many of them were also wearing green in solidarity.

Several people theorized that Mangione's green attire was a homage to the popular Nintendo character, Luigi, who is Mario's brother, who often wears green while his brother wears red. Many of the protesters outside the courthouse were seen wearing Nintendo Luigi hats.
