The new video, which went viral on social media, shows at least two individuals who parked in front of the governor’s residence in St. Paul, Minnesota, to yell ableist slurs at the Democratic governor.

It remains unclear if the Walz family was in the residence at the time of the incident. Nevertheless, social media users were quick to denounce the verbal attacks.

“When people gather outside someone’s home to scream slurs, it’s not ‘protest,’” a user wrote. “It’s a symptom of a society losing its ability to disagree without dehumanizing.”

“This seems like a very mentally stable individual,” another user posted sarcastically.

“And we’re supposed to pretend the ‘MAGA moral compass’ points anywhere but straight into the gutter,” a third one commented. “This isn’t normal because they aren’t behaving normally.”

MAGA’s newfound hatred for Walz, who ran on the Democratic ticket for vice president in 2024, follows a Truth Social post from President Trump in which he called the governor “seriously r—--d” as he was going on a bizarre tirade about immigrants in Somalia.

“Somalian gangs are roving the streets looking for ‘prey’ as our wonderful people stay locked in their apartments and houses hoping against hope that they will be left alone. The seriously retarded Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, does nothing, either through fear, incompetence, or both,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Thanksgiving.

Days after the initial post, Walz clapped back at the president, saying his use of the r-word was a strategy to deflect from his “incompetence.”

“This is what Donald Trump has done. He has normalized this type of hateful behavior and this type of language,” Walz said of Trump’s post. “At first, I think it’s just because he’s not a good human being. But secondly, (it’s) to distract from his incompetence.”

Nevertheless, other MAGA leading figures, such as the president’s son, Don Jr., have applauded his use of the offensive term, responding to a video showing the incident, writing, “they’re not wrong.”

Walz and his family have spoken out about how offensive and damaging the slurs are, particularly his daughter Hope, who has posted multiple videos on social media defending her family, including her younger brother, Gus Walz, who suffers from nonverbal learning disorder.

“The president calling my dad what he did has unleashed a storm regarding offensive language towards me, my family, and specifically my brother. You can call me whatever you want. You can call my dad, my mom. When it's Gus, f–k to the no, f–k to the no. He dealt with people calling him that last August. And now there's a resurgence,” she said in a TikTok video earlier this month.

“Oh, Don. It’s so clear that your dad does not love you,” Hope said in another video, replying to Don Jr.’s post. “I genuinely feel sad that you and your family feel the need to degrade and put down large swaths of the country in an attempt to make yourself feel better.”
