UPDATE: Governor Henry McMaster officially appointed Lindsey Graham’s sister to fill his vacant seat.

Darline Graham Nordone spoke briefly at the press conference, accepting the appointment.

Darline Graham described the appointment to finish Lindsey Graham’s term as an “honor,” saying, “Lindsey has always been there for me, and now, I will be there for him.”

“I think this is what Lindsey would have wanted, and I plan to honor him in this way,” she said. “To Lindsey, I miss you more than I can even put into words, but I’m going to do this. I got it,” she concluded.

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster will hold a press conference this afternoon to announce his appointment to fill the seat left vacant by the sudden death of Senator Lindsey Graham on Saturday. 

McMaster’s office said in a press release earlier that the press conference will serve to “reflect on the life and service of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham and announce an appointment to fill the vacancy created by the senator’s passing.”

McMaster will speak at the Governor’s office at the South Carolina Statehouse.

As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier, President Trump announced that he had recommended to McMaster that Lindsey Graham’s sister, Darline Graham Nordone, serve as interim Senator.

“I recommended, to Governor Henry McMaster, Lindsey Graham’s wonderful sister, Darline, to serve as interim Senator from the Great State of South Carolina. This would be a fabulous tribute to Lindsey, who loved her dearly!” Trump said on Truth Social.

The DC Medical Examiner released its preliminary findings after Lindsey Graham’s death on Sunday.

“The preliminary examination findings were: Aortic Dissection due to Arteriosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease,” Graham’s office said.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 4 pm ET.
