A bizarre Midwestern Democrat is getting dragged online after seemingly using a bizarre accent to pander to a group of supporters earlier this week.

On Monday, the Republican National Committee posted footage of Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Rep. Haley Stevens addressing a group of supporters in Ecorse.

One could say she was using a ‘down-home’ approach to communication.

“I am gonna be working on our behalf,” Stevens says in an exaggerated accent. “I am gonna be tellin’ the stories on our behalf.”

“And you better believe I’m gonna be doin’ it with a little bit of joy, a little bit of enthusiasm…And a little bit of sick it to ’em!” she added. “Because that’s the Michigan way!”

Social media quickly went wild and roasted Stevens after hearing her rant in whatever accent that was.

Michigan natives quickly distanced themselves from Stevens, saying that they never heard anyone sound like that in their lives.

I recently learned Haley Stevens grew up in Rochester Hills.

Maybe 25 minutes from where I grew up.

There is indeed evidence that Stevens was at least exaggerating her accent in the clip.

For example, here is how Stevens sounded just a few years ago. While there is a notable accent, she at least sounds like a normal human being.
