It’s been a bad week for the anti-J6 crowd. Former police officer Michael Fanone, who was present at the Capitol Riot on January 6, 2021, was criminally referred on at least six counts by prominent J6 activist Ivan Raiklin. Raiklin submitted the referral to acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, and Attorney General for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro on June 29, 2026.

The violations in Fanone’s criminal referral range from making false statements to Congress, obstruction of official proceedings on Capitol grounds, assaulting and impeding certain officers and employees, and unlawful activities on Capitol grounds.

Fanone made a scene at a House Judiciary hearing on January 22, 2026, in which former Special Counsel Jack Smith testified to the committee and defended his unlawful criminal prosecutions against President Trump during the 2024 election cycle. Fanone also got into a verbal altercation with Raiklin at the hearing and made false statements about him in front of law enforcement.

The Gateway Pundit got an exclusive interview with Raiklin and J6er, Daniel Goodwyn, who is aligned with StopHate, an organization that seeks justice for prosecuted victims in the aftermath of January 6. You can learn more about the organization here.

“I filed a defamation lawsuit for $10 million against him… as well as its defamation, assault, and there’s another count that deals with threat, not threatening words, but untowardly,” Raiklin told TGP.

“You have a civil, my civil complaint against Fanone. We have a criminal investigation on Fanone going as we speak. And then also there is, depending on where that criminal investigation leads us, it shows that Michael Fanone was behind the coordinated vector of attacks to have people threaten me via interstate communications such as emails, voicemails, as well as through the postal service in the form of postcards, that would trigger a federal criminal charge based on the word and language that were used, and that could trigger an investigation by the Department of Justice alone.”

Ranklin also called the former police officer “fainting Fanone,” as a way to mock his alleged unconscious state seen on his bodycam footage during the January 6 Capitol riot.

Daniel Goodwyn then chimed in on Fanone’s body cam footage during the January 6 riot. “It’s just all fake. The guy like said it was like four minutes of being unconscious, which I think is a unique use of that word.”

Raiklin is sending the criminal referral to members of Congress and the DOJ. “That’s one criminal referral that I’m providing not only to members of Congress to send over to the DOJ, but also I’m gonna be sending this over to Todd Blanche, as well as U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Janine Pirro, as well as the head of the criminal division over at the Department of Justice.”

The interview between Raiklin and Goodwyn ended with a rundown of the fraud this country saw in the 2020 election and the understandable reason why a large crowd showed up at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

“It was an illegitimate election, and they wanted their voices heard to provide courage to those in the chambers to do the right thing and object to the illegitimate electors set forth by, at a minimum, six states. I argued that 39 states transmitted illegitimate electors, but the campaign only argued that six of them were illegitimate. But still, it was an illegitimate election, and we’re starting to see more and more of that, and there’s gonna be more to come,” Raiklin told TGP.

Rep. Troy Nehls did not hold back on Fanone and wasn’t surprised by Fanone’s criminal referral:

“Doesn’t surprise me. The guy, did you see him in the hearing? He was openly flicking me the bird. Did you see that? He said nasty things about me. What’s nasty about this guy here? Nothing, but he’s unstable and he probably needs to get on some medication,” Nehls told TGP in an exclusive interview.

Nehls also said that Fanone is “garbage” and “doesn’t speak the truth very often.”

Fanone famously whispered, “f**k yourself,” under his breath during Jack Smith’s testimony, as Nehls highlighted the failures of “U.S. Capitol leadership” during the January 6 Capitol riot.

Rep. Seth Moulton, D-MA, who is hoping to primary longtime Democratic Massachusetts Senator, Ed Markey, D-MA, had something different to say.

“Nobody who tried to overthrow our government, who tried to kill cops, tried to kill Mike Pence, tried to kill Nancy Pelosi should get a dime. They should go back to prison,” Moulton told TGP in an exclusive interview. Moulton is referring to President Trump’s proposal for a $1.776 “anti-weaponization fund” to compensate victims who were wrongfully prosecuted. The fund was recently dropped.

Fanone also previously testified to Congress about his experience during the Capitol riot on July 27, 2021, and has become a darling hero of the left. The left once again shows its inconsistency and hypocrisy by glorifying cops who were present at the J6 riot, but less than a year before were setting police stations on fire during the so-called “summer of love” riots in 2020.

Fanone’s obstructive behavior and threatening demeanor towards Raiklin have gotten him into trouble, as he is now being criminally referred to the DOJ and is currently facing a defamation lawsuit for $10 million for his false statements about Raiklin at the hearing.

Given these developments, the once darling hero of the left has his credibility being brought into question, and the claims he made about his experience on January 6, 2021, do not hold the same weight they once did.

Fanone did not respond to the Gateway Pundit’s request for comment.
