Charlie Kirk’s Accused Assassin Seen Laughing in Court Feet Away from Charlie’s Widow Erika Kirk * The Gateway Pundit * by Jim Hoft
What a horrible sight.
Accused assassin, Tyler Robinson, the 23-year-old charged with the murder of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, was seen laughing with his attorney in a Utah courtroom on Monday morning.
Just a few feet away, Charlie’s widow Erika Kirk sat sobbing. According to reports, Erika was seen crying before the start of today’s hearing.
Accused assassin Tyler Robinson sits in court in Utah as prosecutors describe his cold-blooded murder of Charlie Kirk.
Erika, dressed in all black, faced her husband’s alleged killer for the first time as Robinson appeared before a judge for a five-day preliminary hearing that will determine whether he stands trial for Charlie’s murder.
Charlie’s parents, Robert and Kathryn Kirk, accompanied her. Donald Trump Jr. and his wife, Bettina Anderson Trump, sat in the front row to support the grieving widow.
And Robinson? He was seen laughing with his defense attorney Kathy Nester before the proceeding began.
The Daily Mail reported:
Robinson, however, is said to have been laughing with his attorney Kathy Nester ahead of the proceeding, which will determine if he has to stand trial for Kirk’s murder. It is unclear what prompted his expression of mirth.
Charlie Kirk was shot dead on September 10th while addressing a crowd of thousands at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University. Robinson is charged with aggravated murder. Prosecutors allege he sent a text message confession to his transgender partner after the shooting before turning himself in.
He still has not entered a plea. His attorneys are fighting to take the death penalty off the table.
The testimony on Monday was too much for the family to bear. Erika and Charlie’s parents left the courtroom shortly after Utah Valley University police officer Chris Bagley began describing the moment Charlie was shot.
Officer Bagley, the prosecution’s first witness, described the horror to the court, according to the Daily Mail:
‘I saw him go to the left … I could no longer see the right side of his body,’ Bagley told the court. ‘Then everybody started getting up and started to run, more of a chaos situation.’
Bagley testified that he later found a disturbance in the gravel on top of a nearby building that looked like a ‘sniper pad’ — with a clear line of sight from the roof of the Losee Center down to where Charlie sat.
Erika leaned her head on a friend and wiped away tears with a handkerchief as the testimony was delivered. Kathryn Kirk listened with her head bowed and eyes closed, clutching a packet of tissues.
Robinson took notes.
The cross-examination also revealed some stunning details about the security — or lack of it — at the event that day:
Six officers. Thousands of people. No one on the roof.
The Kirk family plans to attend the entire week-long hearing. Ahead of the proceedings, Erika released a statement on X, as reported by the Daily Mail:
‘Every court proceeding serves as a painful reminder of his death, and the loss that has irrevocably impacted our lives and the lives of his children,’ Erika said in the statement shared on X.
After the hearing concludes, District Judge Tony Graf will decide whether the case proceeds to trial. The judge previously denied the defense request to remove the death penalty as an option.
A widow mourns. Two children grow up without their father. And the man accused of pulling the trigger sits in court laughing.
Keep the Kirk family in your prayers this week.
