Here we go again.

An illegal alien from India who possessed a valid California commercial driver’s license is now in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody after authorities caught him transporting nearly $3 million worth of stolen tungsten oxide powder.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Deepak Kumar, was arrested in Greenfield, Indiana, after police tracked his tractor-trailer traveling westbound on Interstate 70.

The truck was wanted in connection with a massive cargo theft reported in Pennsylvania on June 25.

According to the Greenfield Police Department, Kumar is suspected of using fraudulent documents to obtain nearly 40,000 pounds of tungsten oxide powder valued at a staggering $2,857,500.

The powder was being shipped to Mitsubishi Materials Corporation in Japan.

From the Greenfield Police Department press release:

“Greenfield Police Officers were alerted to a wanted semi tractor/trailer around 6am on Saturday morning traveling along Interstate 70 westbound entering Hancock County that was involved in a theft of cargo in Pennsylvania on June 25, 2026.

Officers located the wanted truck and trailer near the Greenfield exit (104MM), verified the information and conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 70 just west of the Greenfield exit.

The driver of the truck is identified as Deepak Kumar, 31 years old, of Fresno, California. Mr. Kumar is suspected of using fraudulent documents to obtain a load of nearly 40,000 pounds of Tungsten Oxide Powder that was being shipped to Japan.

The value of the cargo Mr. Kumar fraudulently received is $2,857,500.00 and was being shipped to Mitsubishi Materials Corporation in Japan.

An arrest warrant was issued by the State of Pennsylvania, accusing Mr. Kumar of Theft by Unlawful Taking Movable Property and Criminal Use of Communication Facility. Mr. Kumar was arrested at the stop location and taken to the Hancock County Jail.

The Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office will determine if Mr. Kumar will be criminally charged with Indiana crimes related to the traffic stop and subsequent search warrant findings.

The truck and trailer were impounded by Inman’s Towing of Greenfield and held as evidence pending a search warrant request. A search warrant for the truck and trailer was later issued and officers confirmed the stolen cargo was present in the trailer.

A representative of Mitsubishi Materials Corporation arrived in Greenfield on Sunday and took possession of the stolen cargo.
With the use of modern technology and diligent police work, Mr. Kumar is in jail and will face prosecution for his alleged crimes.

Mr. Kumar is only a suspect and is considered innocent until proven guilty. We commend B Squad officers, both day shift and night shift, who worked together on this traffic stop to recover this stolen property.”

Kumar was reportedly carrying three forms of identification when he was apprehended: an invalid work visa, a fraudulent New York State driver’s license, and a valid California commercial driver’s license.

Pennsylvania authorities charged him with theft by unlawful taking and criminal use of a communication facility. Bail was set at $200,000. He was later transferred to ICE custody in McFarland, California, where he remains.

Tungsten oxide is a valuable industrial material used in ceramics, lasers, optical equipment, high-tech windows, and the manufacturing of armor-piercing ammunition.

The Department of Homeland Security blasted media outlets for describing Kumar simply as a “Fresno trucker.”

“The love affair between criminal illegal aliens and the media continues.KSEE24, Deepak Kumar is NOT a “Fresno trucker” — he’s an illegal alien from India whose criminal history includes multiple arrests for fraud, swindling, identity theft, forgery, and larceny,” DHS wrote on X.

But despite his alleged criminal history and unlawful immigration status, Kumar somehow managed to obtain a valid California commercial driver’s license.

How many more warning signs do Democrat officials need?
