House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) had his anti-Trump talking points blown up this morning, after getting hit with an inconvenient reminder.

As TGP readers know, gas prices have risen over the past few months, largely due to the war in Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. But they have not reached the levels under other recent presidencies.

In fact, gas prices have already started to decline, and are poised to plunge further after Trump struck a deal with Iran on Sunday to end the war.

But Jeffries is untroubled by these facts. On Monday, he appeared on “Good Day New York” to trash the Trump economy, focusing mainly on the cost of gasoline.

But co-host Rosanna Scotto then delivered a devastating reality check: gas prices were also sky-high under Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

In fact, the U.S. had gas prices over $5 a gallon back in 2022, while Biden was doddering around the White House.

As one will see below, an embarrassed Jeffries was left stuttering and stumbling as Scotto schooled him.
