The United States has now gone 13 consecutive months with zero illegal aliens released into the country at the border, according to the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection.
This is a dramatic reversal of the catch-and-release policies enacted by the Biden administration.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in a press release, “Thirteen straight months of ZERO releases at the border. Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, we are delivering the most secure border in American history.”
“The days of catch and release are over. We are enforcing the nation’s laws and quickly sending illegal aliens back to their home countries, ensuring the safety and sovereignty of our nation,” Mullin added.

The Republican National Committee’s research arm posted about the victory on X, adding, “Thanks to President Trump cleaning up the Democrats’ mess, we now have the most secure border in history.”
Under Joe Biden, Border Patrol agents frequently had no choice but to release illegal aliens into the U.S. interior with notices to appear in immigration court, a policy widely known as catch-and-release. This led to millions of illegal aliens entering the country while awaiting hearings that often took years, if they showed up again at all.
Under President Trump’s administration, that practice has ended.
Every illegal alien apprehended at the border is now either detained or swiftly removed.
No one is being released into American communities.
“This milestone, coupled with historically low illegal crossings, demonstrates our unwavering commitment to securing our nation. Our robust enforcement policies are working, and we are delivering unprecedented results in border security, drug interdiction, and trade enforcement,” said CBP Commissioner Rodney S. Scott in a press release. “These sustained successes are a testament to our strategic approach and the vital support we receive, thanks to the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Mullin.”
There have been record-low encounter numbers of illegal aliens attempting to break into our country.
In May, Border Patrol recorded roughly 9,998 apprehensions at the southern border, a massive 93 percent decrease from the peaks during the Biden administration.
