The Western Hemisphere is turning right.

Colombia lived today with strong emotions as Trump-allied right-wing Abelardo De La Espriella won Colombia’s Presidential election run-off by a small margin.

Espriella beat Iván Cepeda Castro. The candidate is supported by the current leftist president, Gustavo Petro.

Espriella got just under 50% of the vote, clearing a small margin of less than half a million votes over Cepeda.

Abelardo de la Espriella wins Colombia's presidential runoff with 12,901,860 votes, defeating Iván Cepeda by 255,001 votes, as reported by Noticias Caracol.

BUT, to no one’s surprise, leftist President Gustavo Petro is disputing the results, and there are fears that he will plunge the country into an institutional crisis by rejecting defeat.
