The grieving family of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf is now receiving death threats and hateful messages on their personal phone numbers and social media following the conviction and 35-year prison sentence handed down to his killer, 19-year-old Karmelo Anthony.

The threats, which began after Anthony’s arrest in April 2025, have intensified dramatically since the unanimous guilty verdict on Tuesday.

TMZ reports:

TMZ obtained one of the hostile messages, which you can see above. Someone told the family Austin’s twin brother, Hunter, should have died and that Austin “f***ed around and found out.”

TMZ has also learned that people are threatening to show up to Metcalf family homes, taunting them by saying they’re soiling Austin’s grave.

Law enforcement is reportedly aware of the threats.

According to TMZ’s sources, one explicit threat told the family that Austin’s identical twin brother Hunter “should have died” and that Austin “f-cked around and found out.”

Other messages threaten to show up at the Metcalf family homes and include vile taunts about “soiling Austin’s grave.”

No suspects have been named, and no arrests have been announced as of Wednesday evening.

This latest wave of harassment comes on the heels of shocking video footage showing a mob of deranged Karmelo Anthony supporters physically following and verbally assaulting the Metcalf family as they left the Collin County Courthouse immediately after the sentencing.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, video from the courthouse shows the murderer’s supporters swarm the grieving family, including his brother Hunter Metcalf, who held his dying twin in his arms after the stabbing, while chanting “We glad Austin’s dead!”

The family remained calm and moved toward waiting vehicles under the sheriff’s deputy escort as the harassment continued in the parking lot.

Earlier in the day, the same crowd had cheered a supporter declaring “BOTH of the brothers should’ve been dead.”
