Trump is again trying to undo the gordian knot of the Russia-Ukraine war
Two phone calls, one goal: peace – what a way to celebrate his birthday!
Now that the peace negotiations with Iran seem to be in the final stages, US President Donald J. Trump again is making a concerted effort to help Russia and Ukraine to end the 5-year-long war – the bloodiest in Europe since WW2.
To begin with, Trump told Russian President Vladimir Putin today (14) that ending the conflict in Ukraine was ‘vital’, and that he was ready to help, according to Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov.

Trump has held a 55 minute phone call with Putin to mark his 80th birthday today, per the Kremlin.

Ushakov, who said the two leaders spoke for 55 minutes, also said Trump told Putin that an agreement on ending the conflict in Iran was close.
‘As regards the Ukrainian conflict, Donald Trump again emphasized that a cessation of hostilities was vital’, Ushakov told journalists in comments posted on the Kremlin website.
‘He said he was ready to act with European partners and Kyiv, including in talks at the G7 summit’, he added, referring to the summit of G7 industrialized countries this week in the French resort of Evian. He also quoted Trump as saying that a rapid resolution would allow ‘perspectives to open for a new quality of U.S.-Russian relations’.”
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy says he had a “great conversation” with President Trump during a phone call on Trump’s 80th birthday as the two leaders prepare to meet at G7 this week in France.

But that was not all: in a separate Reuters report, we learn that Kiev regime leader Volodymyr Zelensky said he spoke today to Trump, and discussed efforts to end the war, ahead of a G7 meeting in France this week.
“Zelensky, writing on Telegram, said he had wished Trump a happy 80th birthday and thanked him for the assistance provided by Washington throughout the conflict.
‘I wished President Trump every success, first and foremost in his efforts to end Russia’s war against Ukraine’.
[…] Zelensky said he had discussed with Trump the position of their international partners. ‘We talked about what could help to bring peace closer right now, and I updated the president on the latest developments on the battlefield and how our position has strengthened’, he said. ‘We have some good ideas that could help bring peace closer’.”
