Barack and Michelle Obama sat down for an interview with Good Morning America host Robin Roberts to promote the opening of the new Obama Presidential Center.

The Obama Presidential Center, which cost more than $850 million to look like a trash heap on the South Side of Chicago, will officially open to the public on Juneteenth (June 19).

The Obamas sat down for a joint interview before the opening ceremony for the Obama Presidential Center.

All former presidents and first ladies attended the opening ceremony on Thursday.

Obama said that he hopes his presidential center inspires the next generation.

“I’m not interested in the center and the exhibits being an exercise in nostalgia. I don’t want people to just be looking back and say, ‘Oh, wow. Hope and change. That was so much fun. And I miss you.’ Those are nice sentiments,” Barack Obama told “Good Morning America” host Robin Roberts.

“What I want people to feel when they come through here is, ‘Oh, that was possible, which means I can do that,'” Obama said.

Robin Roberts asked the Obamas to describe their next chapter.

“One word to describe your next chapter,” Robin Roberts said.

“Fun,” Barack Obama said.

“Me,” Michelle Obama said.
