Marxist New York City Mayor Mamdani addressed today whether he had any interest in a constitutional change which would allow him to seek the U.S. Presidency.
Mamdani appeared on ABC’s “This Week” with noted liberal hack Jon Karl to discuss the recent victories of his fellow communists in New York, along with criticisms from more sane Democrats about his ideology.
A fawning Karl, though, saved the question he wanted most right at the end of the interview. He asked Mamdani whether the U.S. Constitution should be amended so that he could run for the most powerful office on Earth.
As TGP readers know, the Constitution has the following three requirements to run for president:
• Be a natural-born citizen of the United States
• Be at least 35 years old
• Have been a resident of the United States for 14 years
Mamdani, of course, was born in Uganda, so he is ineligible.
Mamdani laughed off Karl’s question, saying he thought the Constitution looked good “the way it is,” before adding that he’s just “very excited to focus on New York City.”
Should Americans believe him?

KARL: You’re turning 35 soon.
MAMDANI (laughing): In a few months, yes.
KARL: So, you have now hit one of the constitutional requirements to run for president. But there’s another that says you have to be a natural-born citizen.
MAMDANI: Yes.
KARL: Do you think that’s something that should be changed in the Constitution? It would take an amendment.
MAMDANI: I think the constitution looks good the way it is.
KARL: Just the way it is.
MAMDANI: I’m very excited to focus on New York City, but thank you.
Of course, several other high-profile politicians have denied interest in higher office before suddenly flip-flopping and doing so anyway.
One could see a strong “Draft Mamdani” movement emerge should his poll numbers continue to rise and the Democrats remain adrift. As the old saying goes, Democrats fall in love while Republicans fall in line.
A person with Mamdani’s ego will likely not be able to resist the pull of presidential power.
