Iran Says It’s Closing the Strait of Hormuz After Accusing US and Israel of Violations – VP Vance Says Strait is Still Open With Record Amount of Traffic (VIDEO) * The Gateway Pundit * by Jordan Conradson
Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz again, accusing the US of violating the memorandum of understanding signed earlier this week.
Hezbollah and Israel continued fighting on Saturday morning, with Hezbollah launching dozens of projectiles and Israeli strikes killing more than a dozen people, CBS reports. Iran says Israel’s refusal to withdraw troops from Lebanon violates the memorandum.
This comes after Hezbollah and Israel agreed to a renewed ceasefire following Friday’s round of Hezbollah strikes that killed four Israeli soldiers and Israeli strikes that killed dozens in Lebanon.
Iranian negotiators are set to hold talks today in Switzerland. US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff departed for Switzerland on Friday. Special Envoy Jared Kushner is also in Switzerland.
Vice President JD Vance, who is leading talks for the US, canceled his planned departure for Switzerland last night. Vance told Fox News this morning that he may travel to Switzerland "sometime in the next couple of days," pending the arrival of "the principals from the Iranian government, also the Qatari and the Pakistani government."
He further told Fox that the Strait of Hormuz is open and that record numbers of barrels of oil are flowing through it. "The United States has all the cards. The Straits are now open. The Iranian military is now destroyed," he said.

President Trump made a rare trip to Camp David for the weekend, The Gateway Pundit reported.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi was expected to attend the meeting, but a US official tells Axios that the Iranian delegation has not shown up yet.
Per CBS:
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is warning commercial vessels not to approach the Strait of Hormuz after Iran announced it was closing the shipping lane again due to violations of the memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran.
"It is emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is closed and vessels should not approach the Strait of Hormuz; otherwise, their security will be at risk," the IRGC said in a statement to its affiliated station, Fars News.
Meanwhile, US Central Command announced on Saturday that "Commercial ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz increased June 20 as U.S. forces continued operating in the general area to support freedom of navigation."
"Safe passage through the international waterway remained intact today as 55 merchant ships transited, moving large amounts of cargo and more than 17 million barrels of oil to global markets," the statement continued.
"U.S. forces remain present and vigilant to ensure all aspects of the agreement with Iran are adhered to, obeyed, and in full force and effect."
