HOT MIC: Gretchen Whitmer Caught Saying “We’re Used to People Saying No… And Doing It Anyway!” While Pushing Massive Data Center Tied to Dirty MI SOS Jocelyn Benson’s Husband * The Gateway Pundit * by Patty McMurray
On June 1, 2026, Governor Gretchen Whitmer attended a ceremonial groundbreaking and site announcement event in Saline, Michigan, for the massive $16+ billion Oracle/OpenAI “Stargate” data center campus.
The event was held to celebrate and officially announce the project, which is being developed by Oracle and Related Companies with involvement from OpenAI. It’s one of the largest data center developments in the United States.

While rural Michigan residents are fighting back against data centers in their rural communities and desperately trying to protect their farmland and way of life, Governor Gretchen Whitmer was caught on a hot mic arrogantly admitting exactly how she and her cronies operate.
In a newly released video from the groundbreaking ceremony for the controversial $16+ billion Oracle/OpenAI “Stargate” data center project in Saline Township, Gretchen Whitmer was overheard in an arrogant exchange with Oracle CEO Clay Magouyrk that reveals how little she cares about the people who “elected” her as their governor.
During a conversation with the Oracle CEO, which appeared to be about the controversy the state is facing with the slew of data centers Whitmer is attempting to create in rural communities across the state, the far-left governor could be heard saying, “We’re used to people saying no… and doing it anyway!”
Watch:
Democrat Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer was caught on hot mic with Oracle CEO Clay Magouyrk, INSULTING locals and bragging about how she ignores their concerns.
“We’re used to people saying ‘f*ck no,’ and doing it anyway.”

So, while local residents voted overwhelmingly against this massive industrial project that will reportedly consume enormous amounts of electricity and water, Democrat governor and 2028 presidential hopeful, Gretchen Whitmer and the corporate interests behind it simply decided to ram it through anyway.
This Project Isn’t Only About Michigan’s Top-Ranking Democrat—There’s Also A Shocking Jocelyn Benson Connection

This isn’t just another crony project. Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, who is running as a Democrat for Governor, has a direct and massive financial interest in the deal through her husband.
Ryan Friedrichs, Benson’s husband, is a high-level executive (Vice President of Development) at Related Companies, the parent company of Related Digital — the firm developing this massive data center campus.

In 2019, Ryan Friedrichs, Jocelyn Benson’s husband, was part of a scheme to delete public emails related to a nonprofit organization run by Detroit City Mayor Mike Duggan’s then-girlfriend (now-wife), according to the Detroit Office of the Inspector General (OIG).
According to the Metro Times, the OIG report concluded that Alexis Wiley, a former journalist, “abused her authority” by ordering employees at the city’s Office of Development and Grants (ODG) to erase emails that referenced the nonprofit. The report also accuses Wiley of misleading the public by denying that the city used public money to support the program.
The department’s chief development officer, Ryan Friedrichs, and deputy chief development officer, Sirene Abou-Chakra, were “complicit” in carrying out Wiley’s orders to delete emails, according to the report. The OIG called the scheme “egregious,” “troubling,” and “extremely problematic” and recommended that the three officials be “disciplined.”
Intentionally destroying public records is a crime punishable by up to two years in prison. Friedrichs was never charged for his role in the email deletion scandal.
Experts have estimated that Friedrichs could personally stand to make $70 million or more from this project.
So while Benson lectures Michigan voters about “democracy” and “election integrity,” her own family stands to become extraordinarily wealthy from a project that many Saline residents fought tooth and nail to stop.
This is the same Jocelyn Benson who has spent years bending election rules to favor her party, including her controversial handling of UOCAVA and absentee voting policies.
Michigan’s dirty Secretary of State now wants to be Michigan’s next corrupt governor — while her husband, Ryan, cashes in on one of the largest corporate welfare projects in Michigan history.
The people of Michigan deserve to know exactly who benefits when politicians like Whitmer and Benson say “we’re doing it anyway” — even when the people say “f*ck no.”
