The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) was forced to publicly deny reports this week that HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will step down as early as next month.

Dr. Robert W. Malone, the mRNA pioneer and former Vice Chair of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), appointed to that role by Secretary Kennedy himself in June 2025, took to X on Friday with a bombshell post:

“BREAKING- Very active rumor mill currently with specifics from senior USG (government) employees that RFKjr will be leaving as Secretary HHS in July, after the 4th. Meeting was apparently held last Monday. Oz to head transition team. Reportedly widely and openly discussed during last Wednesday’s Congressional baseball game.”

HHS Rapid Response moved quickly to shut it down, posting: “This is utterly false.”

Despite the official pushback, Malone later noted that he remains unconvinced that the rumors can be completely dismissed. He claimed, “I said clearly – this is a rumor and coming from lots of sources.”

“HHS is denying the robust rumors that RFKjr is on his way out – given the pattern above, I am not ready to concede the strong possibility the July will see transition to a new Secretary. But as I originally posted, this must be considered a rumor at this time.”

Last Wednesday during a MAHA Action Zoom call, Kennedy’s wife, actress Cheryl Hines, offered a strong defense of the HHS secretary and appeared to dismiss concerns about his future.

“You don’t need to worry about Bobby. He is stronger than ever and he will continue the fight.”
