Democrats are once again showing exactly where their priorities lie.

As President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” advances with provisions aimed at providing relief to working families, Democrats have launched a full-scale attack on a measure that would give parents access to a $1,700 tax credit for educational expenses.

As The Gateway Pundit reported last summer, President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill delivered the most ambitious national school choice initiative in American history.

The landmark legislation included a federal tax credit scholarship program allowing individuals to receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit of up to $1,700 for donations to Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs).

Those organizations then provide scholarships to low- and middle-income families for private schools, religious schools, charter schools, tutoring, and other educational options.

The program empowers parents — especially those trapped in underperforming public schools — without directly draining public education budgets, since the funding flows through private charitable donations incentivized by the tax credit. It was a clear win for families and a direct challenge to the government education monopoly.

Now the left is in full panic mode trying to kill it.

Radical Democrats, led by Reps. Gwen Moore (D-WI), Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR), and others, held a press conference this month to roll out their “Keep Public Funds in Public Schools Act,” a blatant attempt to repeal the school choice provision they sneeringly call a “school voucher scheme by another name” in Trump’s “one big ugly bill.”

Reps. Gwen Moore: “One of the provisions in the one big beautiful bill, the one big ugly bill, that was overlooked was this provision in the tax bill that provided a dollar-for-dollar tax credit up to $1,700 per person to provide monies for private school vouchers, thus depriving the Treasury of more than $4 billion a year. Your tax dollars should not go to fund private religious schools who can pick and choose who they want to admit. No disabled students, no LGBTQ students, no Black students, whatever. No students who are not of a certain religion, etc. Your tax dollars should not fund segregation academies or fraudulent activities that have nothing to do with education.”

WATCH:

Democrats are angry that private schools won’t tolerate the rampant disciplinary crises, violence, and academic failure that the Left has allowed to fester in public schools for decades. I

Instead of forcing institutions to maintain standard excellence, the Democrats bashed these private sanctuaries as “segregation academies” and threw out baseless, fear-mongering claims that they will discriminate against minority and LGBTQ+ students.
