The Redeemer made an appearance in the MASSIVE celebration.

It’s a bit frustrating to live in a city that it’s so beautiful it hurts, but is only reported around the world when some awful criminal event takes place, or if one of our ‘leaders’ is caught during a corruption sting… you know, third world problems.

The nice exception are the mega events that take place in this city that is designed for tourism: Rock in Rio, the Carnival, and of course, the largest New Year’s Eve in the planet.

Take a look at the famous fireworks from this years celebrations:

The city of Rio is in fact, in the Guiness Book of Records:

“Rio’s New Year’s Eve celebration has been officially recognized by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS as the Biggest New Year’s Eve Celebration in the World, solidifying the city as a global benchmark for New Year’s Eve celebrations. The record was achieved by considering the projected 2,5 million people on Copacabana Beach in 2025.”

But in all this celebration, there was someone missing, looking at the party from above:

But not anymore. This year, drones formed the image of the Christ the Redeemer statue emerging from the Atlantic.

The display involved 1,200 drones, synchronized with fireworks and a special soundtrack by DJ Alok, as part of the city’s effort to highlight its cultural and artistic significance.
