A Democratic congressman’s thoughts on the future of the Senate Democrats are eliciting guffaws from conservatives, highlighting the bleak prospects for the party.
As The Gateway Pundit has reported, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer led a weeks-long shutdown which finally ended last week thanks to a few sane Democrats in both the House and Senate.
However, the blowback from the left was enormous, with most of the ire directed at Schumer for failing in his chief mission: securing the GOP’s agreement to extend the expanded Obamacare subsidies into law permanently.
Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) appeared on “Meet the Press” today to discuss Schumer’s legacy as leader and his thoughts on potential replacements. Khanna has been a staunch critic of Schumer for not being ruthless or liberal enough as the Democratic Leader.
After criticizing Schumer’s many mistakes, host Kristen Welker pressed him on who he thinks should lead the Senate Democrats going forward.
Khanna tried to duck the question, saying that any endorsement by him would “probably hurt” the people he had in mind, simply stating, “We have dynamic, young, new leaders.” But to her credit, Welker did not let him off the hook.
Khanna finally conceded and named the following four people: Chris Murphy of Connecticut, Cory Booker of New Jersey, Brian Schatz of Hawaii, and Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren of Massachusetts.
Yikes.

KHANNA: What is the future of Democratic leadership? Who is going to be effective?
And most Democrats around the country just don’t think that person is Chuck Schumer…He’s not bold, he’s out of touch with the grassroots…Cheer-led us into the war with Iraq.
This was the final straw, where he was not strong on fighting for healthcare.
WELKER: So, who is the person you think should lead Democrats into the future in the Senate? Who is at the top of that list for you, congressman?
KHANNA (chuckling): I think if I endorsed someone, it would probably hurt them more than help them.
But we have dynamic, young, new leaders…
WELKER: Who are (they)?
KHANNA: Chris Murphy is a top leader, Cory Booker is a dynamic leader, Brian Schatz is a dynamic leader, Elizabeth Warren is someone whose ideology I appreciate.
But there is a lot of great talent.
Here are the ages of these “dynamic young leaders.”
Chris Murphy: 52
Brian Schatz: 53
Cory Booker: 56
Elizabeth Warren: 76
Pretty far from young, especially Pocahontas.
