(VIDEO) "They're Making a Big Miskake" - Trump Demands Republicans Terminate Filibuster, Reads a List of Bills They Could Pass: "It Doesn't Make Any Sense that a Republican Would Not Want to do That" | The Gateway Pundit | by Jordan Conradson

President Trump on Friday renewed calls, once again, for the Senate Republicans to terminate the filibuster, which would take a simple majority, and use their control of both chambers to reopen the government and pass sensible legislation that the Democrats will never vote for.
The shutdown became the longest in history on Wednesday after closing its 35th day. The previous record was set in Trump’s first term at 34 days.
With the filibuster in place, all legislation requires 60 votes to invoke cloture and move to a simple majority vote. Despite Republicans controlling the Senate, they cannot reopen the government or pass legislation without Democrats voting in favor.
Trump has repeatedly called on Senate Republicans to invoke the “nuclear option” and terminate the filibuster.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, on Wednesday, Trump hosted Republican Senators for breakfast, where he told them to end the filibuster, reopen the government, and pass laws to fix our country and our elections.
However, Senate Majority Leader John Thune and a handful of other Senators told reporters they will go against Trump on this, making the 50 votes necessary to terminate the filibuster impossible. “It’s just not happening,” said Thune, who made it clear he’s unwilling to vote to terminate the filibuster.
Trump again said on Thursday that he wants the filibuster to be terminated so the Senate can pass election integrity laws with voter ID and one day voting, border security, tax cuts, and “so many things” that the Democrats will never vote for. But meanwhile, Senate Republicans were already plotting to cut a deal with Democrats to reopen the government.
One would think Republicans are intentionally sabotaging the Trump Administration-- again.
When a reporter mentioned Republicans' refusal to terminate the filibuster on Friday, Trump said, "they're making a big mistake."
"The way to do it for the Republicans is to terminate the filibuster," he continued. "I would have been in favor of that a long time ago, but you know, the Democrats are going to do that, and most of you will admit the Democrats are going to do that. So why aren't we doing it? And I think only a foolish person would be against that, especially when you realize that these are crazed people."
"These people are absolutely crazed Trump derangement syndrome, whatever it may be," he said of the Democratic lunatics in Congress.
Trump then pulled out a list of "things that we'd pass if we terminated the filibuster," including voter ID requirements, banning mail-in voting, cashless bail reform, ending transgender insanity in women's sports, and ending taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal aliens.
WATCH:
Reporter: You've spoken to Republican Senators. They do not seem interested right now in getting rid of the filibuster.
Trump: That’s too bad they're making a big mistake. That's right, no, but they're coming my way… The way to do it for the Republicans is to terminate the filibuster. They call it the nuclear option. This is the second form of nuclear, very good, very good. This is a good form. This is not a bad form. I would have been in favor of that a long time ago, but you know, the Democrats are going to do that, and most of you will admit the Democrats are going to do that. So why aren't we doing it? And I think only a foolish person would be against that, especially when you realize that these are crazed people.
These people are absolutely crazed Trump derangement syndrome, whatever it may be, and I am totally in favor of terminating the filibuster, and we would be back to work within 10 minutes after that vote took place, and lots of other good things would happen. And it doesn't make any sense that a Republican would not want to do that.
Reporter: If they're not going to do that, then it seems like you'd have to make a deal with Democrats to end the shutdown...
Trump: Here's some of the things that we'd pass if we terminated the filibuster: voter ID, no mail-in voting, no cash bail, no men in women's sports, no welfare for illegals. You could go on and on. This is two pages of things we’d do if you did that. Without it, I don't know that you passed anything because you can't deal with them. They're really irrational. They really are.
But I was happy to see that a tremendous liability to this country, a woman that made herself rich in this country, Nancy Pelosi has quit, and she'll be out of here pretty soon, and I consider that to be a great asset for America, getting her out.
