IN a TikTok that has since gone viral, a Walmart shopper shared video footage of her groceries being delivered to her home in a matter of seconds by a drone.

While some social media users were amazed at the new technology, others were uncomfortable with how futuristic it seemed.

The video, which has since garnered more than six million views, begins with Walmart shopper Justice waiting on her front porch for the high-tech delivery.

“This is so cool. I’m excited,” she said, adding that Walmart estimated her groceries would be arriving in exactly one minute and 57 seconds.

Justice noticed the drone was nearby after she heard it whirring, and she zoomed into the drone in the distance.

“I probably should get out of the way so I don’t get knocked out by the food,” she joked.

The aircraft is then seen stopping and hovering above Justice’s yard before it sent a smaller droid.

The second droid lowered itself to the walkway in front of her home before dropping off a single package for the customer.

Justice then bids farewell to the drone and scoops up her package, which contains ingredients to make dinner.

Many viewers were shocked by the whole process, with some amazed with the impressive technology.

“Bro we are dead a** in the future! Like this is so cool,” said one commenter.

Others were a little uneasy with how drastically different the whole thing was from the traditional in-person shopping experience or car delivery.

“This too futuristic for me,” cried one shopper, as another agreed that drone delivery “feels so weird.”

“This is how they delivered food to the tributes in the Hunger Games,” commented one user, as others agreed that receiving their groceries via a flying object felt “so dystopian.”

Many other TikTok users were similarly disturbed by how cookie-cutter Justice’s neighborhood looked, adding to the eerie feeling.

“Same exact houses same exact lawns same exact cars same exact trees AND a robot delivering groceries this is sending chills down my spine,” cried one user.

Others were concerned that drones could take away paychecks from human delivery drivers.

The controversial delivery is the product of Walmart’s 2020 drone delivery partnership with a company called Zipline, which uses Platform 2 drones to make home deliveries up to eight pounds.

The autonomous drones launch from charging stations in Walmart parking lots and deliver groceries and essentials directly to shoppers’ yards in 30 minutes or less.

The retailer’s partnership with Zipline is active across a handful of North Texas communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, with ongoing regional expansions.

Walmart also has drone deliveries operated by the third-party drone service provider Wing, which is a larger partner for the grocery company.

While Zipline offers its services to shoppers using a more localized footprint, Wing is targeting tons of major metro markets, including Los Angeles, St. Louis, Cincinnati, and Miami.

By 2027, Walmart and Wing plan to have a network of more than 270 drone delivery locations.
