A youth baseball coach is recovering after being shot in the shoulder during a Sunday morning game.

The game was being played in Katy, Texas, west of Houston — with players as young as 11 — when “an unfortunate incident occurred,” the venue said in a statement posted to Facebook Sunday.

According to the venue, The Rac, the coach was shot in the shoulder after a “recreational shooting on a nearby property.”

Several gunshots rang out during the game, one of which ricocheted off of a pole and struck the 27-year-old coach, NBC News affiliate KPRC of Houston reported.

The condition of the coach, who has yet to be identified, was not immediately clear. KPRC reported that he was flown by the Life Flight air ambulance service to a hospital following the shooting and that he is expected to recover.

Video of the shooting posted to Facebook appears to show a number of players and coaches warming up on the field as multiple loud pops are heard. After a few seconds, they all ran off the field and for cover. Voices in the video can be heard instructing people to “get down.”
