Sabato's Crystal Ball moves three Senate races toward Dems

The Center for Politics’s Sabato’s Crystal Ball this week made three race rating charges to the 2026 Senate elections, all in favor of Democrats.
North Carolina moved to “leans Democratic” while both Alaska and Ohio became toss-up contests. In the Old North State, former Gov. Roy Cooper, D-N.C., is facing former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley and has held a commanding lead throughout the contest.
In Ohio, former Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, seeks to reclaim his seat against the appointed Sen. Jon Husted, R-Ohio, who took over the remainder of Vice President JD Vance’s term.
Alaska hosts a contest between Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, and former Rep. Mary Peltola, D-Alaska, who has previously won statewide office in the Republican-leaning state.
All three contests are expected to be critical in the battle for the upper chamber come November and the race rating shifts seem to suggest the momentum favors the Democrats.
