Republican Norman Crow is projected to defeat Democrat Judith Taylor in the special election for Alabama State House District 63, according to Decision Desk HQ.

Crow, a Tuscaloosa City Council member, defeated Judith Taylor, a retired college professor and chair of the Tuscaloosa County Democratic Executive Committee, for a state House seat that includes parts of Tuscaloosa County.

Tuscaloosa County has voted for Democrats but has largely favored Republicans. It went for former Sen. Doug Jones (D-Ala.) during his 2017 race, but it later swung toward Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) by 10 points in 2020 and Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.) by 26 points two years later. In 2024, President Trump won the county by 20 points.
