Platner officially withdraws from Maine Senate race

Graham Platner has officially withdrawn from the U.S. Senate race, rescinding his nomination in a letter to the Secretary of State’s Office Friday afternoon.
“My name may have been on the ballot, but that ballot line belongs to the people of Maine. As such, please consider this notice as my official withdrawal from consideration for this office,” Platner wrote.
In the letter, Platner writes about the movement he’s been a part of for the past eleven months, thanking the thousands of supporters for helping to build it. He says he seeks to further the movement by filing the letter that ends his bid for US Senate.
The official filing comes after Platner announced he was suspending his campaign Wednesday night. Platner exits the race after her was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in 2021. Platner denies this allegation.
