Pence backs Trump buying Greenland, questions his strategy, tactics
Mike Pence, President Trump’s first-term vice president, said Sunday that he supports the United States purchasing Greenland, but raised concerns about the way President Donald Trump is pursuing that goal.
“I think it’s a question right now, Jake, not of what the president is trying to accomplish, but how?” Pence told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.”
Pence said he is troubled by Trump’s pressure of European allies, adding: “and I have concerns about using what I think is a questionable constitutional authority, imposing unilateral tariffs on NATO allies to achieve this objective.”
At the same time, the former vice president made clear he supports the underlying aim.
