NY drag queen, school board VP arrested for alleged child sex crimes

Police arrested a 46-year-old drag queen and school board official Thursday for alleged child sex crimes.
New York State Police charged Travis J. Longo, who uses the drag name “Anita Buffem,” with four counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Longo reportedly “engaged in a pattern of sexually explicit communication with a child under the age of 12.”
The police did not release specifics about the nature of the communications between Longo and the child. The mug shot of Longo shows him with traces of wiped-off makeup still visible on his face.
Longo was elected vice president of the Board of Education for the Cazenovia Central School District in 2024 and could still serve his term through June 2027. His drag-persona Instagram account boasts that he is the first drag elected official in the U.S.
As the School Board vice president, Longo is responsible for overseeing all levels of public education within the district—elementary, middle, and high school. One of the board’s primary goals, as listed on its website, is to “support and celebrate student engagement in extracurricular activities by increasing [the board members’] presence at school events.”
Longo founded Cazenovia Pride Fest in 2021 and continues to perform for pride events. A “Drag Bingo: Stars, Stripes, & Sequins with Anita Buffem” was scheduled for July 1. Cazenovia Pride’s home page currently displays a notice canceling the town’s June 27 “Pride Festival and all associated events” and announcing that Cazenovia Pride Inc. is “dissolving as an organization.”
“This decision follows serious criminal charges against Travis Longo, the founder of Cazenovia Pride Fest and a longtime figure in our organization. Travis Longo has no further affiliation with Cazenovia Pride Inc.,” the announcement reads.
The Cazenovia School District’s website makes no mention of Longo’s arrest. The district’s stated mission is to “nurture, inspire, and empower students to make a positive impact in our world by building healthy relationships in a safe, diverse and welcoming environment that encourages learning and growth for ALL.”
The Cazenovia Central School District did not respond immediately to the Daily Caller’s request for comment.
