Trump demands 'nuclear honesty' from Iran

President Donald Trump on Monday warned that Iran would have to commit to outside weapons inspections as part of a deal to end the war.

“Everybody is fully aware that Iran will agree to have Major Weapons Inspections in order to ensure ‘Nuclear Honesty’ long into the future,” he posted on Truth Social.

His remarks come as Vice President JD Vane and Iranian leaders meet in Switzerland to work on a peace agreement. The war began in late February with joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran that killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Trump has sought commitments from Iran that it will not possess a nuclear weapon, but appears to have backed off goals of regime change and limitations on its ballistic missile supply.

Despite the ongoing peace talks, Iran, the U.S., Israel, and other combatants have traded fire throughout a nominal ceasefire and continued fighting in Lebanon threatens to derail the entire process.
