LA mayor race tightens as Raman narrows the gap

City councilwoman Nithya Raman is slowly narrowing the gap with former MTV reality star Spencer Pratt in her bid to get in the runoff in the Los Angeles mayor’s race.
Raman picked up 4,224 votes on Pratt since Wednesday, narrowing the gap to 6 percentage points, 29.4% to 23.4%.
The two are vying to face off in November with incumbent Mayor Karen Bass who currently sits in first place with 35.1% with 64.3% of the vote counted. The Associated Press projected on election night that she would advance to the general election.
According to the Orange County Register, election officials believe about 688,180 ballots remain to be tabulated. That’s enough to dramatically shift the vote count.
