Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton said Tuesday that his campaign has found no evidence of voting fraud as California election administrators continue counting ballots from last week’s primary election.

“We’re very, very focused on making sure that everything’s okay,” Hilton told reporters outside the Los Angeles County elections headquarters, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“We’ve got teams standing by, we’ve got lawyers standing by, very focused on that. We don’t want to let anyone down, we don’t want to let anything slip away, and we’ve seen nothing,” Hilton said.

Hilton’s comments came as the race for second place behind former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra remains unsettled by some election trackers, even as others have projected the Republican candidate will advance to November’s general election.

Newsmax and Decision Desk HQ declared Monday night that Hilton had secured the second spot and would face Becerra in November.

With about 84% of ballots counted, Hilton held 25.2% of the vote compared to 22.4% for Democrat Tom Steyer, who remained in third place.
