The Conor McGregor comeback fight ended in disappointment, confusion and frustration.

McGregor opened the long-awaited fight with a jumping, roundhouse kick and fell. Then he got up, tried again to kick and fell again.

And then came the final fall and the end. McGregor threw a hard left and landed on the mat. Once back on his feet, he reached for his injured right leg as if it were about to buckle. With that, referee Mike Belton stopped the fight at 1:09 of the first round.

And so one of the most anticipated fights in recent history ended with a smattering of boos.
