'Beyond stupid': Another NFL player drops ball before scoring

Adonai Mitchell is off the hook, at least somewhat. Another player has dropped the ball while running toward the end zone.
Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado broke through an opening against the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 5 and had wide-open field for a 72-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter.
He let up in the closing yards and dropped the ball just before reaching the goal line. The ball rolled out of the back of the end zone, giving the Titans the ball on a touchback.
Arizona would have been ahead 27-6 with an extra point pending had he held on to the ball. The Titans beat the Cardinals 22-21 on a last-second field goal, Arizona’s third straight loss in that fashion.
Mitchell, the Indianapolis Colts, did the same thing one week earlier, negating what would have been a 76-yard touchdowns reception in their 27-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He played only in mop-up time in a 40-6 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
