4.1 magnitude earthquake felt across Las Vegas valley

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake recorded about 15 miles outside of Las Vegas was felt across the Las Vegas valley Thursday afternoon, according to the Nevada Seismological Lab of the University of Nevada Reno.
The 4.07 magnitude earthquake occurred about 15 miles west of the Las Vegas valley around 1:47 p.m., according to the Nevada Seismological Laboratory of the University of Nevada Reno.
An RTC traffic camera near Nellis Boulevard and Harmon Avenue in the east Las Vegas valley captured the moment the earthquake hit the valley.
Nevada is considered one of the most seismically active states in the country, behind California and Alaska, Clark County Nevada said. However, preparation can save lives. More than 630,000 Nevadans including over 500,000 in Clark County are expected to take part in the annual Great Nevada ShakeOut.
