Three children died after a boat capsized on Geneva Lake Friday afternoon, police said.

Police said 10 people, including four children, were on a privately owned boat when a sudden and severe storm moved across the area, creating hazardous boating conditions.

They said the boat was overwhelmed by severe wind and waves, capsized and sank.

Authorities said seven people were rescued from the water, but three children remained missing.

The children were eventually found and recovered, but all died despite attempts at life-saving measures.

All four children on board were wearing life jackets at the time of the incident.
