At least 18 people were injured in two separate blasts Tuesday inside the Syrian capital city of Damascus, amid an official visit from French President Emmanuel Macron.

One explosive was in a trash bin and the other was in a parked car, according to the Associated Press.

New Syrian President President Ahmad al-Sharaa and his leadership have wrestled with rebel groups opposed to their ouster of longtime dictator Bashar al-Assad.

The blasts were the second in recent days. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the recent attacks.

Macron was inside the presidential palace when the explosions happened Tuesday. An official from the Elysee Palace said he was safe and that the meeting with al-Sharaa continue, the wire service also reports.
